No Place To Go
No Place To Go
36” x 24”
Red tail lights enter and circle around the painting only to disappear into the darkness of the highway. There are exit and on ramps looping around, creating multiple stacks of lanes which somehow appear to have no place to go. Although there are thick layers of rope to outline the route to take, most routes or lanes appear to blend into the next layer. This leaves a few of the vehicles, whose red lights illuminate the road, with no place to go, no definite plans and no way of arriving at a destination. The purpose of a journey with no destination becomes a puzzle to the weary traveler.
Someone once said that to travel is to take a journey into yourself. The painting, “No Place To Go”, reminds us of our difficulties to make that journey into ourselves. Even though this title may seem negative, it is really meant to be advice. It is a warning not to deny ourselves the pleasure of introspection and the growth of our wisdom. It is a warning not to forget to take that inner journey.
